Teresa contacted me on 10/2/24 around 5 pm about a patient who came in after being turned away from the ER without getting the exam she needed to submit to the police. The patient was a victim of rape and human trafficking, whose car was taken/stolen. She needed a MAT appointment, had no money for her Suboxone, and had no ID to pick up the Suboxone as is required by State law. Teresa stated she contacted Crisis Coordination. She talked to MAT Coordinators and learned there was no more funding for Suboxone through the pharmacy. She said the patient didn’t have anywhere to stay that night. Teresa was willing to do whatever it took to assist the patient. I referred Teresa to Refuge for Women and told her we had a new year of CCBHC MAT funding. I contacted Gabby, Susanna, and Amanda about the funding for Suboxone and suggested how to deal with the ID issue. Teresa said she encouraged the patient to go to the Precinct Office to report the rape. The patient agreed and did go. The patient returned, and Teresa accompanied the patient to the pharmacy, where she received her prescription. Then the constable offered to take the patient to the ER to do the rape kit. Teresa was there for the patient the entire time, supporting her the entire time. Teresa’s final words were, “I really hope she gets the help she needs. That was heartbreaking.” This demonstrates the compassion and lengths Teresa goes to in her care and compassion for MyCHN patients.
