A gentleman came into the office as a walk-in who was not feeling well. He came in and told our PSS, Karina Franco, that he had been having chest pains that night and had a tingling feeling going down his left arm. These pains kept him up all night, and he had only been able to get one hour of sleep. When the PSS heard it was due to chest pains, she instantly requested Melissa come to the front. He stated that he just wanted his blood pressure checked and didn’t want to see a doctor because he had a drug test that he needed to take at 2pm that day for a new job. He didn’t want to go to the hospital because he felt that he would be there all day or possibly get admitted and miss his appointment. Melissa took the patient to the vital room to get his BP and called EMS. She kept a calm and cool demeanor with the patient and reassured him she would get help. The next day, Melissa took her care even further by calling the local hospitals to check on the patient because he had come in on a motorcycle. She even left a note in case someone came by to check on it that it would be safe in our parking lot, and we were rooting for him to get better. She was able to find him at one of the hospitals, and the nurse said he was recovering from a heart attack. Five days later, he came back in, thanking Melissa for saving his life, keeping him calm, and reacting as quickly as she did. He also wanted to share that…HE GOT HIS DREAM JOB all because of us!!
