Alvin, TX, January 6th, 2023 — MyCHN is excited to introduce two new psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners to the team. Ajikele Nwanakwo and Courtney Simmons-Matthews are passionate about helping their patients and ensuring they receive proper care.

Meet the New Providers
Ajikele Nwankwo, PMHNP
Ajikele Nwankwo, a Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, graduated with a Masters’s in Nursing with a specialty in mental health from Walden University in 2020. Nwankwo earned a Bachelor’s in Public Health in Nigeria and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Arlington in 2017. She worked as a Public Health Superintendent at the River State Ministry of Health in Nigeria for more than 15 years. Nwankwo has years of counseling experience and a passion for her patients. Nwankwo is Board-Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of the Galveston Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses.
Courtney Simmons-Matthews, PMHNP
Courtney Simmons-Matthews is a Dual-Certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. With a 20-year tenure in healthcare, she received her advanced practice degree in 2019 from Prairie View A&M College of Nursing and her Post Masters Certification from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Matthews believes every individual deserves quality healthcare managed by a trusted healthcare provider who advocates for the patient’s overall well-being. She specializes in managing chronic medical, psychiatric, and behavioral health conditions. Courtney Simmons-Matthews uses education, disease prevention, psychotherapy, and medication management to help her patients reduce healthcare disparities and improve their overall quality of life.
