By now, you know that side effects come with the protection of any of the two Covid-19 vaccines. But there is one that is physically noticeable and might linger for a few days, which is now known as the “COVID Arm.” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a COVID Arm displays:
- Red rash
- Swollen area
- Sometimes painful area
- Hot to the touch
Dr. Yvette M. Poindexter, Chief Medical Officer at Community Health Network, advises you to “take–over–the –counter antihistamine if the rash is itchy. If you are experiencing pain, take some over-the-counter pain medication, such as acetaminophen and if a second vaccine is needed, take in the opposite arm.” If you are a patient of Community Health Network, these medications can be delivered to your home via mail when you use CHN Pharmacy as your preferred pharmacy.
