It’s Christmas time, which means laughter, food, giving, and family. There is such much that happens during this time of year. It’s easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of the season. You’re thinking about everyone around you and how you will make their Christmas perfect, but have you taken the time to think about yourself?  Â
You need just as much loving as everyone you’re showing love to this season. Here are some practical tips for showing yourself love while preparing for this Christmas. And don’t worry, we’ll give you some useful tips for what you can do to prepare for this Christmas as well.Â
Tips for Showing Yourself
Love!
Tip 1: Pamper yourself – You’re doing a lot during this season, and you deserve to rest and relax. Take the time to do an at-home spa for yourself or if you have the extra cash, go out and have the professionals take care of it for you. Just make sure that you relax and get your mind off the preparations you still have to do.Â
Tip 2: Buy yourself a Christmas gift – It may seem that you’re buying something for everyone but yourself this season, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Set some money aside for yourself and get something you’ve always wanted. Whether that is an experience, a meal, or an object, make your own dreams come true. Â
Tip 3: Listen to holiday music – Music is an easy way to get to the heart, and it might be just what you need this season. Create a playlist with your favorite holiday music, make yourself a cup of hot cocoa (or a glass of wine) and wrap some gifts or relax. Â
Tip 4: Make, bake or buy some Christmas goodies – There’s nothing like having your favorite seasonal meal or dessert. If you’re hosting this year, you may be thinking about everyone else’s dietary restrictions, but that shouldn’t stop you from having what you love. So, cook/buy a meal or bake/buy a treat you love and enjoy.Â
Tip 5: Take a day off – Sometimes doing nothing is doing something. So, take a day off to do absolutely nothing, no cooking, gift wrapping, or planning. You’ll thank us later.
How to Prepare For Christmas
Now we know you’re still thinking about everything you have on your plate, and you would love some advice on that too, so here it is. Â
Declutter before Christmas DayIf you’re hosting this Christmas, it’s easy to stress about what your home looks like to others. Stress isn’t something you should aim for this season, so declutter your space beforehand and notice that your mind will do the same.  Give Yourself TimeThe reality is that you can’t get everything done in a couple of weeks. Packing a bunch of activities or things to do in a short period of time is not ideal for your mind or body. Your best option is to give yourself time. Use a calendar to plan when you want to do things and stick to it.Ask for HelpDon’t feel like you have to do everything by yourself this season. There are others around you that are ready to help, and all you have to do is ask. Whether that’s help with shopping, wrapping gifts, or preparing the Christmas meal, you can get those around you to help, and that takes some of the stress away. Set ExpectationsIt’s super easy to feel overwhelmed that isn’t the place you want to be, mentally, during this season. So, set some expectations for yourself and even others around you. Understand that everyone will not do what you want, the day isn’t going to be perfect, and no matter what, it’s okay to feel a certain way. But you can always set an expectation to enjoy your time and let no one spoil your mood. Have Fun During Your Preparations Everything doesn’t always have to be so serious. If you’re feeling like the season is moving by fast and you haven’t really had the time to just enjoy what’s happening, then something needs to change. Actively make an effort to enjoy yourself and have fun. Plan an activity with the family or find a way to make what you’re doing more enjoyable.
