MyCHN Awarded Significant Grant to Improve Access to Life-Saving Cancer Screenings Press Release

Alvin, TX, August 15, 2024 — MyCHN is proud to announce that it has been selected as one of the recipients of a significant award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). This award, announced during National Health Center Week, is part of a broader initiative to enhance access to vital cancer screenings in underserved communities.

The award is part of a $9 million investment across 18 HRSA-funded health centers, all of which are committed to expanding access to early cancer detection services. By partnering directly with National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Centers, MyCHN will play a crucial role in expediting patient access to cancer care and treatment, ensuring that individuals in our community receive the high-quality care they deserve. This funding aligns with the Biden Administration’s Cancer Moonshot mission, a bold initiative aimed at preventing 4 million cancer deaths by 2047 and ending cancer as we know it.

MyCHN will use the funding to increase cervical, breast, and colon cancer screenings in our communities and aim to reduce these cancers in partnership with the NCI (National Cancer Institute) hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Additionally, this funding will help purchase a new mammogram unit to improve breast cancer screenings.

"We are honored to receive this award. This grant allows us to continue our mission of serving the underserved and expand access to life-saving cancer screenings and treatments. With this support, we can significantly impact the lives of many individuals, helping to detect cancer early and providing them with the best possible care."

As part of this initiative, MyCHN will work tirelessly to reach those in our community most in need, ensuring that barriers to cancer prevention and treatment are removed. MyCHN is committed to providing accessible, compassionate care and to being a leading force in the fight against cancer.
