MyCHN and The Lake Jackson Police Department Partner to Launch “Aligned” Program in Lake Jackson Press Release

Lake Jackson, TX — May 15th, 2026 — MyCHN, in partnership with the Lake Jackson Police Department, is proud to announce the launch of the Aligned Program in the Lake Jackson community. This initiative is designed to connect individuals experiencing mental health crises with the care and support they need — offering an alternative to unnecessary involvement in the criminal justice system.

The Aligned Program is built on a simple but powerful goal: bridging the gap between individuals in crisis and the resources available to help them.

Addressing a Growing Community Need

Law enforcement agencies across Brazoria County are increasingly responding to calls involving individuals experiencing mental health crises. In many of these situations, individuals do not require incarceration — they require access to care.

The addition of Aligned to Lake Jackson reflects a shared commitment between MyCHN and the Lake Jackson Police Department to respond to these situations with compassion, efficiency, and long-term solutions.

Gerald Roznovsky, who was sworn in as Mayor of Lake Jackson on November 17, 2020, and re-elected in 2022 and 2024, played a key role in the implementation of the Aligned Program in Lake Jackson. Through his leadership and commitment to community wellness, the program has helped positively impact the rate of mental health-related incarceration by increasing access to behavioral health support and intervention services.

“From day one, this partnership has enabled our Police Officers’ tools to help improve the lives of people that they see who are in distress. By providing this resource, we have seen fewer recurring calls involving citizens dealing with the pressure of situations that become overwhelming to them,” said Mayor Gerald Roznovsky. “We can now get people quickly to the help they need, providing a path to improving their lives.”

How the Program Works

Through the Aligned Program, Lake Jackson Police Department officers can identify individuals who may benefit from mental health or substance use services and initiate a referral for support.

Once a referral is made:

  • The case is reviewed by designated personnel within the police department
  • The individual is assessed to determine current care or service needs
  • When appropriate, they are connected with MyCHN’s Crisis and Behavioral Health team

This process helps ensure individuals receive timely access to therapy, medication management, psychiatric treatment, and/or other support resources — often before situations escalate further.

“Since entering law enforcement in the late 1980s, I have witnessed both the frequency and severity of mental health issues during law enforcement encounters,” said Chief Paul Kibodeaux of the Lake Jackson Police Department. “I have also experienced firsthand the frustration officers face when repeatedly responding to these calls, with few resources available to provide meaningful help or reduce repeat incidents. Our partnership with MyCHN has become an invaluable resource for connecting individuals in crisis with professional mental health services through law enforcement encounters. Throughout my career, I have always discouraged officers from telling people, ‘There is not much we can do.’ No one wants to hear that when they call the police for help. The expectations placed on law enforcement have expanded greatly over the past few decades. But prior to this program, mental health-related calls were among the most frustrating situations officers encountered because the available options were so limited.

Although we are still in the first year of tracking outcomes, the positive impact on our officers has been immediate. We have also seen a noticeable decrease in repeat calls, which gives us hope that we are truly making a difference in the lives of people who need it the most.  I am grateful to the outstanding people at MyCHN for managing this program with such devotion and care, and to Mayor Gerald Roznovsky for bringing everyone together. I am proud to be part of this project and pray it continues with great success.”

A Collaborative Approach to Community Wellness

“Aligned represents the kind of collaborative, community-centered approach needed to address behavioral health challenges effectively,” said Mark Young, MyCHN’s Chief Executive Officer. “By partnering with the Lake Jackson Police Department, we can help individuals access care earlier, reduce barriers to treatment, and support healthier outcomes for the entire community.”
