Mother’s Day Tips for Self Care

Mother's Day is About You

Mother’s Day reminds us how much we love our moms or mother figures. All the sacrifices they made for us and how they have helped us so far. They do a lot for us, but do we remember to do things for them? Let’s face it being a mom comes with many responsibilities and selfless moments. There is so much on your plate, and sometimes they seem endless.

Gifts are nice, and it’s easy to purchase and think it’s enough. To all the mom’s out there, we know you want a little more than flowers, perfume, clothes, and the like. Self-care is important, and though we want to take care of you as much as we can, we also want you to take care of yourself! This month of May is officially named Mommy Love Month! Mommy needs some love too!

Mommy Self-Care Tips

Because we want you to take care of yourself, we have some valuable tips to help! Mommy deserves some self-care, which is sometimes hard to think of by yourself. So, here are some ideas.

Ask for help:

  • As a mom, sometimes you may feel like you have to do everything on your own. You are supermom, yes, we know, but supermom asks for help occasionally. You’re not alone, and you have a support system around you, so use them. Ask for help when you need it and even if you don’t think you do. Trust me, it goes a long way, and you’ll be able to relax a little.

Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep:

  • We know that this one seems like a stretch, but we know you can do it. Do your best during the day to manage your time and all the unexpected things that may happen in between. Then set a bedtime for you and your kids. Once that time comes, set everything aside and get your beauty sleep.

Set time for yourself:

  • It’s easy to get lost in the flow of everything unintentionally. You need time to yourself, away from the kids and your partner. The best way to do that is to schedule that time into your day, week, and month. If you need to add it to a calendar and sync it with everyone in your home, do it! Just make sure you do something for yourself and away from everyone else.

Do what makes you happy:

  • Mommy love sometimes involves your kids and family. It’s important to do what you love with the people you love. Plan dates, events, activities, and more with your family. Their love will surround you, and that’s a feeling that you’ll never forget.

Take Time For Your Health Too!

As a mom, we know you’re making all the phone calls to schedule doctor, dental, and therapy appointments. It’s time to put your health first! You won’t be able to care for everyone if your health is not on point. So this week, we are challenging you to add healthcare to your mommy-to-do self-care list.

Schedule an appointment at your local MyCHN clinic for an OB-GYN, dental, or therapy appointment. Mommy always deserves love, and that includes healthy love.
