Hello, hello, hello CHN members! Guess what? We are back with another edition of our segment on CW39’s “Houston Happens.” This week’s topic is prenatal care, led by the outstanding Sherrell Gibson: our nurse practitioner who leads our women’s health department. Mrs. Gibson advocates for prenatal care, which is health care while the mother is pregnant. The prenatal services include ultrasounds, laboratories screenings, health screenings, and 24 access to their care team. With our prenatal services, “We care from in the womb to the first pediatric visit,” as Mrs. Gibson aptly states. To learn more about how our prenatal services support you, please feel free to check out our video below. The questions and answers used in the segment are also posted below for those who enjoy reading.

Question and Answers from Houston Happens: Ft. Dr. Sherrell Gibson:
Why is it important for women to receive the right prenatal care?
Even if you’re feeling well and your pregnancy is free of complications, regular prenatal visits can make a difference in supporting a smooth birth and healthy baby. At Community Health Network, we have a program that will give you and your baby the best possible start towards health.
What sets MyCHN apart from other organizations when it comes to prenatal services?
We have 24-hour access to your OB care team, complete laboratory screens, ultrasounds, patients get to meet and greet their delivery physician at a hospital of choice, and we don’t turn away women that are considered high-risk pregnancies. We are like a “one-stop shop.” In these times where we are all so busy, we have brought everything to you. You don’t have to run all around town. We provide complete integrated care for women, from birth control to baby delivery. We have complete care, including dental care, pharmacy, primary care, mental health, pediatric care, and more. We have in-office visits and telehealth services. We are Patient-centered and accept all insurances, including Medicaid/Medicare and sliding scale.
Is there a wait time to see Obstetric provider at MyCHN?
We have same-day and next-day appointments for our women’s services, and we have multiple sites for your convenience. The earlier you call in the day, the more we can work with you to get you in when you want to be seen. You can contact us at 281-824-1480 or visit us at www.mychn.org
Sometimes certain prenatal providers do not accept CHIP, Medicare, or Medicaid, how about you guys?
We accept all those plans as well as Healthy Texas Women, CHIP Perinatal, and major insurance plans because we want to provide care for all.
What counseling groups does CHN offer at the moment?
We work with women, expecting mothers, and families to take care of their health and babies’ health. There are in-house programs they may qualify for, and they may not have to pay for all services or pay at a discounted price. We also have an in-house pharmacy, so medications tend to be cheaper than at other retail pharmacies.
