Howdy CHN Members! We are kicking off this fall season with another installation of “Houston Happens.” This episode features, once again, CHN’s Lead Behavioral Therapist Demi Minter advocating for group therapy. CHN offers a variety of therapy groups which, as Demi puts it, “meet people where they are.” These groups give people an opportunity to share their experiences and support one another as they navigate their emotional landscapes. Moreover, CHN offers virtual group sessions for those who find in-person sessions a little daunting. As always, there is one-on-one counseling, but many find our group sessions just as impactful. For more information, and to see our amazing Demi in action, be sure to check out the session with CW39! We have the transcript below in case you prefer to read rather than watch as well.

Question and Answers from Houston Happens: Ft. Dr. Demi Minter:
What is Virtual or In-Person Group Counseling?
A counseling group is usually a small group of individuals who meet face to face or online with one or two trained group therapists and talk about what most concerns them. Members listen to each other and openly express thoughts and feelings about what other members do or say.
What are the advantages of group counseling?
When people interact freely with other group members, they tend to recreate the same patterns of interactions that happen to them outside of the group. This creates the opportunity for meaningful change, find support, and increase self-acceptance. With the help of the group leaders, members learn how their behavior affects other people
