Pearland, TX, February 10, 2021 — Community Health Network (CHN) has launched several counseling/therapy groups– for children, teens, and adults. CHN is focused on providing behavioral and mental health care to its patients and prospective patients, which includes group counseling. Groups can be a great place to work on relationship and social skills as well.
Please see below for full descriptions of all currently available groups:
- Expressive Art Therapy Group allows patients to use various arts—movement, drawing, painting, sculpting, music, writing, sound, and improvisation—in a supportive setting to facilitate growth and healing.
- Anger Management allows patients to identify stressors and learn steps to stay calm and manage their feelings in an appropriate manner. It teaches them the steps to reduce the emotional and physical arousal that anger can cause.
- Women’s Support Group allows women benefit from a support group to have a safe place that helps them regain self-esteem, authenticity, support, and bonding with other women. Our women’s support group is a place for women to explore their problems and issues.
- Peer Support/Parenting Group also commonly called family peer support or family support services, offers hope, guidance, advocacy, and camaraderie for parents and caregivers of children and youth receiving services from mental health, substance use, and related service systems.
- Bipolar Group allows patients with bipolar disorder (a mental illness that causes dramatic shifts in a person’s mood, energy and ability to think clearly). People with bipolar experience high and low moods—known as mania and depression—which differ from the typical ups-and-downs most people experience.
“There’s a significant benefit of meeting with like-minded people who share their experience, strength, and hope with one another. Group members encourage each other and support one another with experience from their journey. To hear a person share his/her story that mirrors bits and pieces of yours but offers hope and inspiration is powerful within itself,” said Demeatraus Minter, Community Health Network’s Licensed Professional Counselor.
