Pearland, TX, July 5, 2021 — Community Health Network (CHN) has launched several new inclusive and diverse counseling/therapy groups that have not been offered to patients before. CHN is focused on providing a safe space for patients of all backgrounds, lifestyles, and interests. Group counseling is an ideal place to work on relationships, social skills, find support, treatment, and more. Please see below for full descriptions of all currently available groups:

  • Chronic Illness Group allows individuals to receive peer support from one another facilitated by a licensed professional. This group is for anyone dealing with anxiety, depression, anger, family issues, communication, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. The group helps to develop coping skills and supports participants through the process.
  • Teen Substance Abuse Disorder Group allows young adolescents to learn about their triggers, cravings, readiness to change, and how drugs affect their mind, body, and future.
  •  Men’s Support Group allows men to benefit from a support group, to have a place that helps them regain personal drive, authenticity, support, and seek solidarity from other men. Our men’s support group is a place for men to discuss and navigate their problems and issues.
  •  Women’s Support Group allows women to benefit from the support of other women. It is a safe place that helps them regain personal drive, authenticity, support, and seek solidarity from other women. Our women’s support group is a place for women to express their feelings or discuss and navigate any of their problems and mental health issues.
  • LGBTQ+ Group allows individuals to discuss sexual identity, self-acceptance, stages of change, gender transitioning or questions, safe sex, same-sex dating, etc.- everything of interest to the group.
  •  Pre-Teen Group allows youth to improve self-esteem, increase coping skills, learn to manage social anxiety, fears, depression symptoms, or any other mental health issue with other pre-teens dealing with the same problems. The pre-teen Group allows any pre-teen boy or girl to express their emotions and feelings safely.

“Group therapy offers an opportunity to express yourself in a safe environment with people dealing with similar issues, who you can learn from, get support, encouragement, accountability, and maybe even develop strong bonds of friendship,” said Demeatraus Minter, Community Health Network’s Lead Behavioral Health Therapist.
