Big Changes are Coming for Adoue Family Health Center

The Adoue Family Health Center is Community Health Network’s first clinic site. Although its history as a health clinic goes back many years, CHN (Community Health Network) started operations there in 2009. That year, CHN served 1,025 people who received 1,958 office visits by professional medical providers or dentists. For the month of March 2021, Adoue Family Health Services provided 2,561 professional visits by medical providers, dentists and hygienists, and therapists and psychiatric nurse practitioners. During this same month, CHN provided 10,333 professional visits across all locations. The Adoue Family Health Center accounted for more than a quarter of all visits during the month of March.

The success of the Adoue Family Health Center is primarily due to the great providers that have been a part of this clinic for the past several years. The Adoue Family Health Center was originally staffed by Dr. Yvette Poindexter, who has served as CHN’s Chief Medical Officer since 2010. Dr. Poindexter moved to the Alvin Women and Children’s Health Center in 2015 and has recently moved to our Pearland location, but this left Jessica Castaneda FNP and Lucia Tran PA as the core full-time providers who have been providing care at Adoue for more than seven years. Also, Dr. Antonia Way and Isaac Dike FNP, rotate through Adoue Family Health Center weekly.

Dental care has been provided at the Adoue site since December of 2009 and has remained a staple service of this location. Dr. Clementine Ingabire, CHN Dental Director has been practicing general dentistry at Adoue since 2014. Adoue Family Health Center was the first CHN site to offer behavioral health services beginning in 2011 when therapy was first offered. Psychiatric services were added in 2012 and now CHN provides more than 3,000 behavioral health visits for our patients per month.

Since taking over this location in 2009, CHN made numerous investments and updates to the facility, including cosmetic and infrastructure investment. However, the past two years have seen the greatest changes including fully remodeling the interior and adding two dental clinic operatories. The entire center has new floors and fresh paint. CHN built a full-service pharmacy which is slated to open this summer. The new pharmacy will be a convenient addition for patients to fill their prescriptions following medical, behavioral and dental visits. The providers will ePrescribe medications directly to the pharmacy and patients may pick up the prescriptions from within the same clinic location without having to leave the building- a “one-stop-shop”. The pharmacy provides convenience and low cost, name brand drugs for registered patients.

To accommodate the expanded services, CHN is extending the parking lot to hold more vehicles and provide a safer more convenient experience. The new parking spaces will provide greater safety and access for patients and employees entering the health center. Once this is complete the exterior of the building will be updated, painted, and fresh landscaping will be added. Finally, the Adoue Family Health Center will be renamed Adoue Family Care. Be sure to watch for our new signage later this year. CHN looks forward to additional ventures at Adoue Family Care location as it continues to grow and new opportunities arise.

The medical care at Adoue Family Health center includes primary care that is devoted to keeping our patients healthy and on a route of wellness success. Primary care includes physical examinations, chronic disease management, men’s health services, women’s health services, acute care treatment, non-emergency procedures, and education. Our board-certified doctors and nurse practitioners work hard to welcome and become patients’ first point of entry into their wellness path. They are trained and skilled in physical and virtual contact to continue care during and after a pandemic. Virtual primary care has evolved, and so have the tools that CHN primary care physicians use to maintain their patients’ focus on their health. Patients of CHN have access to care 24 hours a day to speak with our medical department for non-emergency situations.

Dental care services are provided by Board-Certified Doctors of Dental Surgery, Doctors of Medicine in Dentistry, and Dental Hygienist that provide dental fillings, dental extractions, retainers, dental check-ups, dental sealants, x-rays, dentures, crowns, root canals, dental cleanings, TMJ treatment, emergency procedures, and more. Their focus is to keep their patients’ smiles in top shape and prevent any issues early on. The dental care team provides dental care to all ages, including seniors, families, and children.

Our care management team is dedicated at helping patients and family members coordinate their health journey, which includes booking appointments with their primary care and dental providers, as well as a focus on mental health. This service includes virtual or in-office visits to review and discuss care plan and evaluate the progress, needs, and overall health of the patient.

Behavioral health/mental health services are offered by Board-Certified Psychiatrist, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, and Licensed Professional Social Worker. Our behavioral team provides care to all ages, from children of age 5 to adults in their senior years. Individual appointments or group therapy are offered to children, teens, adults, families, couples, and caregivers. Now with virtual care, our providers are able to provide mental health in different languages (Spanish, Vietnamese, Urdu, Hindi, and more) to all of our patients.

CHN patients now have access to our pharmacies, currently located at our Freeport, Angleton, Scarsdale, and Women and Children’s Health Center in Alvin. Our pharmacists can send your prescriptions to you by mail. Also, you most often will receive brand name drugs at the same price or less you receive generic medications. People on Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans may receive additional savings.

Patients of CHN have the peace-of-mind when entering our facility due to our enforcement of mask for staff and patients. We have trained staff to prevent exposure of Covid-19 within our facility. Daily temperature check-ins, no office tours to prospective patients, no walk-in patients, expanded patient appointments for a single visit, hospital-grade hand sanitizing in all patients and clinic staff areas, social distancing techniques, cleaning each room after each appointment, deep cleaning all areas every day, and CDC approved cleaning machines and instruments.
