Waking Up A Happier and Healthier Self

We are all pursuing happiness and good health in our own way. At the same time, we are trying to stay away from afflictions and diseases as much as possible. However, as we grow and reach adulthood, we may realize that this is a challenging task to achieve.

According to the CDC, 6 out of 10 adults in America have one chronic disease, and 4 out of 10 have at least two or more. These include heart disease, cancer, chronic lung diseases, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and more. On top of that, the Covid-19 pandemic has affected everyone’s life for the past 3 years, exacerbating the mental health crisis.

About 4 in 10 adults in the US have reported symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorder post-pandemic compared with 1 in 10 adults before the pandemic. Statistics also show that more than half of us will be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder at some point in our lifetime.

Can We Achieve Maximum Wellness in a World of Uncertainty?

With so many uncertainties in this world and in our personal lives, it has been challenging to maintain our happiness and good health. Fortunately, among all the uncontrollable conditions, we still have a good chance to improve our overall wellness by making wise choices and taking good actions.

Having the Understanding of Wellness

MyCHN is launching a new wellness program to promote wellness in our community. First, what is wellness?

  • Wellness is practicing healthy habits daily to attain better physical and mental health outcomes. Instead of just surviving, you’re thriving. (Pfizer’s definition)
  • Wellness is an active process through which people become aware of and make choices toward a more successful existence. (National Wellness Institute)

Unconscious to Conscious Living

Both wellness definitions illustrate a shift from unconscious to conscious living. Many of us do not think about our health until we start to feel symptoms we can’t ignore. We are used to reactively taking care of our health problems and seeking medical attention once there is an issue. Usually, health problems develop over months and even years, meaning they can be caught earlier.

Our wellness program focuses on the root cause of physical and mental diseases. An old proverb says that the best doctor treats the patients before they develop an illness. So, we encourage you to be proactive about your health and make wise choices to achieve a happier and healthier life.

Wellness is about Whole Person Care

We, as a community, are very used to the conventional medical method; this is a more find-the-disease and-treat method. In addition to that, the cost of this kind of healthcare is high. This is why we know that personalized whole-person care is the future of healthcare. At MyCHN, we are all about whole-person care. This means we treat the whole person because we understand that everything is connected.

Every one of us is multidimensional. We all have physical, mental, spiritual needs, and many more, as shown in the Wellness Wheel below. Therefore, our wellness program is for everyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, health status, and the stage of the disease.

Our health care is becoming increasingly patient-centered and root-cause oriented. We can be in control of our health!

We Are Your Health Coach/Buddy

Health care is not limited to clinics, hospitals, or emergency centers. We are promoting personalized care inside and outside of the walls of our clinical settings to reach out to communities in need. Our health coach program will provide professional guidance to our patients and communities. As you know, habits are difficult to change but to transform ourselves to be happier and healthier, we need a strong support system and several buddies giving off the same positive energy. We would like to act not only as your health professionals but also as your health buddies to walk with you on your journey to living fully and achieving goals meaningful to you.

Better Self, Better Community

Wellness is holistic and has many parts. Because our community is made up of every single person, our individual well-being is important and connected to each other. We will influence the people around us and, vice versa, be influenced by others. Therefore, the overall well-being of the community depends on every community member. We aim to be a happier and healthier self, ultimately leading to a happier and healthier community. Every one of us can contribute to this positive change.
