Bridging the Gap for a Healthier Community
The Aligned Program is a partnership between the Alvin Police Department (APD) and MyCHN designed to bridge the gap and help individuals experiencing mental health or substance use challenges connect with the care they need.
This program focuses on support, intervention, and connection to services, helping individuals in the community receive treatment instead of unnecessarily entering the criminal justice system.
How the Program Works
When Alvin Police Department officers encounter someone who may benefit from mental health services, they can submit a referral through the Aligned program.
From there:
- 1. The case is reviewed by Detective Humbird of the Alvin Police Department.
- 2. The individual is assessed to determine whether they are currently receiving behavioral health care.
- 3. If needed, they are connected with appropriate providers such as MyCHN’s Crisis and Behavioral Health Team or other community partners.
The goal is simple: link individuals to care they may not seek out on their own. By connecting people to therapy, treatment, or medication when needed, the program helps reduce repeat crises and repeated calls for service.
